Biography
1984 have a story.
From the ashes of a burning London have risen 1984 like a Phoenix from the Flames.

The band name derives from Orwell's classic novel delivering their message to forever rebel and to be who YOU are, NOT who THEY want you to be.

1984 is 2008

These London Indie songsmiths will have you dancing and singing with swagger and passion. Songs of lust, love, jealousy and life experience. Songs you can connect with.

1984 are all early 20's and based South of the River Thames - their influences range from The Clash, The Beatles, Squeeze, The Jam, Oasis, The Who, Sex Pistols, BRMC, T-Rex all the way to Led Zeppelin.

1984 formed early 2006 when front man /song writer Steve Holbrook turned to Rob Power for song collaboration along with Ben Tweedy on Drums and Gareth Sutherland on guitar.

Having supported The Paddingtons, Glen Matlock (the sex pistols) and performing an impromptu set at Glastonbury 2007 it is obvious these boys grew up in the 90's and thrive on the music of the 60's.

While continually touring the UK and with a Japanese release in September 1984 are spreading their message far and wide.

If there is hope...it lies in the proles. George Orwell
